Our company History |
FiberRingFiberRing BV is a leading provider of metro optical services, constructing and operating fiber optic networks in major metropolitan areas. FiberRing provides connectivity solutions between major traffic aggregation points throughout each metro network, as well as fiber-optic local loop connectivity. The Company´s optical services address two distinct segments of the metro network, metro core and metro access. The metro core network provides the "backbone" infrastructure that connects traffic aggregation points such as data centers, carrier hotels, and other service provider points of presence (POPs). FiberRing connects the metro core network to the metro access network, which extends a direct fiber connection to enterprise businesses and commercial buildings via its unique HomeRun FiberSM architecture. FiberRing´s redundant, physically diverse network provides the foundation for the broadest suite of connectivity solutions available including Ethernet, Optical Wavelength and SONET/SDH. Situation in the Metro Telecommunications Market The growth of the Internet has created unprecedented demand for high-capacity broadband connectivity. The emergence of hosting companies and content distribution networks has created a fundamental shift in transport demand from the long-haul backbone carriers to the metro core and metro access providers. Also, large distributors of content are engineering new and cost-effective distribution methods, which leverage the extensive interconnectivity options available in today´s metro fiber-optic networks. Not only are the metro core connectivity demands increasing but also the enterprise business bandwidth demands are requiring fiber-optic networks to be deployed to commercial buildings. This metro bandwidth demand is not being satisfied primarily due to the following factors:
