VoIP
FiberRing is committed to providing companies with the latest technology to enable them to effectively compete in today´s global marketplace. Now Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and carriers can diversify their product portfolios by adding voice and fax over Internet Protocol (IP) to their product sets. Using IP as a method of access and/or termination for voice services, businesses will be able to realize substantial savings by reducing costs for traditional telecommunication services. Voice Over Internet Protocol capabilities also enable businesses to prepare for the future.
The FiberRing Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Service offers customers the ability to terminate packetized voice conversations to virtually any phone in the world. Using industry standard protocols, FiberRing avoids proprietary solutions that may not be supported in the future.
Along with the management of VoIP, FiberRing provides outbound voice services and:
-
converts analog (voice) data to digital data using a standard compression algorithm;
-
packages digital data using Internet Protocol;
-
sends the packets over an International Private Line to a terminating FiberRing point-of-presence; and,
-
uncompresses the digitized data and converts it back to analog data for termination over FiberRing´s voice network.
The FiberRing VoIP Service provides a turnkey solution and integrates customer premise equipment with international capacity and outbound voice services. FiberRing also offers the option of using clear channel, ATM, Frame Relay, or IP as transmission protocols for getting to its backbone.

Applications
FiberRing VoIP Service is used for the same applications as standard voice and fax services; however, the traffic is carried to the FiberRing voice network via Internet Protocol, so it is provided more cost-effectively than with standard voice access methods.
With VoIP, a single telecommunication line can be purchased for both voice and data services at substantial cost savings. Carriers, ISPs, and corporations of many types will have multiple VoIP applications.
For example, if an ISP is interested in entering the voice market quickly and cost efficiently or a carrier of voice services is interested in reducing costs, they may choose to adopt a VoIP solution. |
